The David Bowie horse

This is the David Bowie horse.

Toppled "For Sale - Development Property" sign.

This picture was taken in the area of 3050 West Austin Avenue in Merced, California. This picture was taken in 2009, probably in May. Little background here, this sign is sitting in a little vacant lot area that's back behind a shopping center. When I saw this sign, I immediately thought about how bad the economy in Merced was, because they had been hyping up this area of town as a "hot bed" of commercial development since I was in Junior High school. After they built stuff out here, a lot of the stores went promptly out of business. Here's one such business that went under. I blame e-commerce.

Classic car for sale in the parking lot of a Rite Aid in Merced, California.

This is a picture that was taken in April of 2009 in Merced, California. This picture was of a car that was parked and was for sale in the parking lot of a Rite Aid. I don't know why, but I really liked the picture at the time, and I still really like it now!

Another shot of a rock on a Lake Road fence post.

This requires a little explanation. As you can see, this is a picture of a rock on top of a fence post. This fence post is out along a place called Lake Road, which is just outside of Merced, California. Ever since I can remember, random people would grab rocks like this one, and place them on top of the fence posts that run the length of Lake Road. This picture was taken in 2009, probably in March or April. Out in the distance is the Hunt family ranch house.

Barbed wire fence. In the distance is the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Even though this picture came out kind of dark, it is still one of my favorites. This picture was taken in the area of Yosemite Avenue and Lake Road, which is on the outskirts of my hometown of Merced, California. I crouched down for this picture, and you can see portions of the barbed wire fence. In the field there is corn growing, and out in the distance you can see the Sierra Nevada foothills. You can also see some snow high up in the Sierras.

Cow picture that I felt compelled to compare to Elvis song.

This was a picture that I took in 2009 in Merced, California. This picture is of cows in a field off of Lake Road. You'll notice that these cows have interesting tags on their ears. When I first posted this picture a year ago, I felt compelled to compare this picture to this song by Elvis. Since that comparison was important to me then, then I will make the comparison again.

Picture of a field outside of Merced in 2009.

This picture is of a field near where I grew up in Merced, California.

Horse at the fence

This is another photo of a horse that hangs out in a fenced in area along Dunn Road in Merced, Ca.

Horse photo

This is a picture of a horse, as you can see. Many people have horses out where I grew up. This one was staring at me when I walked up to take a picture. I posted the original one here, if you want to see where this picture was taken. This picture was taken in 2009.

A tractor photo

Want to know what it looked like where I grew up? This is it. This is a tractor, plowing a field in an area called Hunt Farms. They usually plant either corn or tomatoes in this field. This is what it looked like in the area where I grew up, until development started rapidly eating up all the farmland. This is looking towards the east, and the Sierra Nevada foothills are in the distance. There isn't much else beyond these fields, it goes on for a few miles of fields, and then you reach the small hills at the edge of the foothills. It is difficult to farm in those areas because of rocks in the soil. This picture was originally posted here.

View of the Flying M Ranch gate at sunset

This is another view of the gate to a ranch called the Flying M Ranch, which is near where I grew up in Merced, California. This picture was taken around sunset. This picture was originally posted here.

Close up view of UC Merced water tower

This is a close up view of a water tower on the University of California, Merced campus. This water tower is located on the backside of the campus, and if often shines in the sunlight. The UC campus wasn't there when I was growing up, so it was quite a shock to visit the campus on my stay in Merced in 2009. I originally posted this picture here.

Vacant lot are a partial "for sale" sign in Merced.

You might think this is weird, but I really liked this picture when I took it a year ago, and I still like it now. This picture was taken in my hometown of Merced. This is a vacant lot, off a street called Olive Avenue. This is across the street from the backside to Burbank Elementary School, if you are familiar with the area. For years and years, this used to be a partially burnt down house. Then they tore it down, and it became a vacant lot. When I was walking by this one day, I thought the color of the grass and the partial sign was amazing. I posted the original picture here.

Rock on top of a Lake Road fence post

This is one of my favorite pictures! This is a fence post for a barbed wire fence. On top of the fence post is a rock. On the ground, you can see that part of the field has bee irrigated. I started taking pictures for the first time last year, mostly out of frustration, and this was the first picture that I really liked. I posted the original here.

Flying M Ranch picture

This is a picture of the gate to a ranch which is near the University of Merced campus. This is out on Lake Road, which heads towards a small lake. This view is looking east, towards the Sierra Nevada foothills. When I was growing up, I walked by this gate more times than I can count. I originally posted this picture here.

Water Tower at UC Merced

This was a picture of a water tower that is located at the backside of the University of Merced campus. I liked how this picture turned out. This picture was taken in March or April of 2009. It was originally posted here.

Hillside outside of Coulterville, California.

This is one of my favorite pictures. I took this picture a year ago. This picture was taken outside of a town called Coultervillle, California. I liked this picture so much, that I used it as the desktop picture on a computer. I was very familiar with this area of the Sierra Nevada foothills, because I used to go up here when I was younger.
